    Herb's Description

    Ficus bengalensis Linn.. A very large tree, reaching 30 m high, sending down many aerial roots from the branches and thus extending the growth of the tree indefinitely; young parts softly pubescent. Leaves coriaceous, 10-20 by 5-12.5 cm; ovate or . orbicular-ovate to elliptic, obtuse, entire, glabrescent above, glabrous or minutely pubescent beneath, base rounded or subcordate, 3-7 nerved with about 5-7 pairs of lateral nerves above the basal ones and distinct reticulate venation between; peduncles 1.3-5 cm long, stout; stipules 2-2.5 cm long, coriaceous. Receptacles about 2 cm diameter, sessile in pairs, axillary, globose, puberulous, red when ripe, with 3 broad rebounded nearly glabrous coriaceous basal bracts. Male flowers rather numerous near the mouth of the receptacles. Sepals 4, lanceolate. Stamen 1. Gall flowers; perianth as fn the male. Style short. Fertile flowers perianth shorter than in the male, style elongate
